Sneak Peek: Saturday's Kid's Craft Class

Above is a little sneak peek at artists, Cade & Carter, in action at Saturday's class. They were making custom gift wrap. Cade (top) was doing some freestyle painting (isn't that sled awesome?), while Carter (bottom) used pre-cut stamps (he mixed the colors himself), & fresh cut celery stamps.

We will post more on the class, project details, etc. But a huge thank you is due to Earth Fare at Brier Creek. The space was lovely (as were the refreshments we purchased from them). We had such a lovely time & can't wait for the next class!

Gift Tag tutorial

Hi there, we put together a quick "tutorial" for our printable gift tags. First, go here to download. Also, & kinda obviously, the quality of your tags will depend on the quality of your paper (& the printer you use).

Oh, & get creative with these. You could use these on other things, like blank cards (Jerry's has a great selection of these)! Anyway, we hope you get tons of use out of these!

Art of the Carolinas 2010

A couple of weekends ago, Lisa participated in Jerry's Art of the Carolinas 2010 at the Hilton North Raleigh. She did demos (see her awesome flamingo work, inspired by a photo Molly captured at the zoo this summer!?), met a ton of interesting/talented people & purchased deeply-discounted art supplies.

The event was so much fun (there was even a limo that gave rides to participants to Jerry's Artarama) & you should definitely check it out next year!

Private Session - perspective landscape painting & vintage-inspired recycled crafts

This week our private session included a group of talented women. Our art project was an acrylic landscape painting on canvas. Our craft projects were bookmarks & gift tags made from art paper, ribbon & recycled vintage art books.
The painting was commissioned by our session's host. Its soft, natural scenery included distant mountains, a winding stream, pond, trees, lily pads & a dragonfly. It was a quintessential lesson in perspective, with a clear horizon line & background, mid-ground & foreground color variations.
The crafts were made using 3 main components: art/craft paper from Jerry's, ribbon & pages snipped from art books. Scissors & a hole punch were also used. This craft was inspired by art books from the 1960s purchased at a thrift store for $.25. Ultimately, the bookmarks & gift tags were inexpensive, practical & fun, & the project is only limited by the crafter's imagination.
The session flew by & was so much fun! The group of attendees were so funny, lovely & talented. While each left the session with a completed painting & customized bookmarks & gift tags, we hope what they really left with was the confidence & inspiration that comes along with creating something with their own hands & imagination. Thanks ladies, for such a wonderful night (in such a wonderful space - more on that later).
If you or a friend would like to book a private session, please contact us at contacttwiceinspired@gmail.com.  We can provide the space, or deliver the class (including equipment, supplies, & us!) to you. Thanks again to everyone who came out this week! Cheers!
