Twice Inspired @ The Southern Women's Show

We were so honored to participate in the Southern Women's Show Raleigh a couple of weekend's ago, & wanted to share a little bit of our experience there.

We had less than a week to put together our booth. Lisa painted the sign on canvas & Molly did the paper decorations. Our booth was the cutest!

We met a ton of wonderful people & couldn't be more delighted with the experience.

Some favorite moments included:
  • seeing the beautiful gowns in the many fashion shows
  • seeing (& holding) the sweet pups up for adoption
  • watching local celebrities compete for charity in "Dancing Like the Stars"
  • more specifically, watching local firefighter Blaise Harris compete in the competition
  • watching the firefighter fashion shows, which benefit burned children (what can we say, we love firefighters, & so did the other ladies, who hooted & hollered as the models sashayed)
  • watching local dance companies dance & entertain the crowds
We can't recommend the experience enough to vendors & attendees. It was an experience we won't soon forget!

Vino Class - Let's Talk About Style

So, want to hear something that we hear (or say) at every class, event or private session that we host? Here goes: "Oh wow, isn't it interesting how they (the finished projects) all like the same, but different?" It's true, & it's a phenomenon that we notice all the time.

And that phenomena, friends, is all about style. No matter the project, every attendee leaves their own imprint, or style, on the work. A great example of this can be seen in the photos of last Saturday's class, Vino, where attendees painted a wine bottle & glass.

Notice how these 2 attendees are painting the same subject (with the same instruction). Then, notice the small differences in each work (the strokes & texture in the backgrounds, the volume in the glass & bottle, etc.). Isn't that cool? That's called style, people, & everyone has their own. We love that.

Oh & we just want to add that 1 of the attendees in this class has never painted before. Inspiring, or what?!

Cafe Creative

Behind the Scenes - Inspired by Location

Before posting specifics on our upcoming class, Cafe Creative, we thought we would give everyone a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes creative process here at Twice Inspired.

Before deciding on a theme for the class, to be held this Monday, April 11, we scouted the location. Benelux Cafe is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh, in City Market. While there, Lisa & Molly spotted some cool coffee sacks on display, & their creative juices began to flow.

Molly was especially thrilled with the find, since she loves creating crafts from recycled & inexpensive materials. It was soon decided that the sacks would be the inspiration for the next class. Molly then did some research on coffee sack & burlap crafts & created the inspiration board above. And just like that, a theme, & a class, were born.

We can't wait to see you at Monday's class!

Inspired by Picasso

Last Saturday's class, held at Earth Fare, was all about texture & brushstrokes. In the class, attendees were inspired by Pablo Picasso's Child with a Dove. Attendees impressed us with their finished works, that were both soft & bold. It was such a lovely class & group!

DIY with Molly - Summer Scarf

After the paintings inspired by Tarkay were complete, Molly showed the group how to make summer scarves from recycled shirts. This is a great way to reuse a shirt that may no longer fit. Also, it's the perfect project if you find a shirt with a print that you love, but it is not your size.

Private Session - inspired by Tarkay

In today's private session, we completed paintings inspired by Itzchak Tarkay's Blanche

The vibrant work proved to be the perfect opportunity to experiment with blending & contrast. The colors in this painting were so festive & lively, too! We couldn't get enough of them!

The space, a sunroom in a private home, was light-filled & perfect. It was even warm enough to crack a few windows to let in a cool breeze. Molly's craft, a summer scarf, was also a hit. We will have a separate post on that (stay tuned).

A huge thank you to today's attendees. It was such a lovely painting & group. If you are interested in booking Twice Inspired for a private session, please email us at contacttwiceinspired@gmail.com.

Private Session - inspired by van Gogh

Saturday, we were honored to teach another fun private session. The attendees were great! Since the group was large, we decided to dedicate the entire class to a painting project inspired by Vincent van Gogh's Yellow Wheat and Cypress. Below are some highlights from the day...

Our host had the most beautiful space, a light-filled sunroom, where we sat up studio. Like at every session, by the end of class we were blown away by how gorgeous (& different) each completed work turned out. It was such a fantastic day!

Want to do something creative & fun at your next gathering?
Email us at contacttwiceinspired@gmail.com & we'll be there! And, like this session, we will collaborate with you & create a custom event for you & your guests.

Family Night @ Earth Fare: activity book

More from our trip to Earth Fare...we decided to give all the kids activity books that went along with our theme of a happy, healthy new year. We took a 3 prong approach to this in the activity books by focusing on making healthy decisions for the body, mind & spirit. Sounds simple enough, right?

Well try breaking that down for children AND making it fun at the same time! :) Luckily, you don't have to. You can download & print your copy of the activity book below. Illustrations by Lisa, design & text by Molly.

It really was great watching the kiddos color the activity books together, & read the words on the pages to the younger ones! And how excited would your little one be to know that they have their very own activity book made by mom or dad? Which is why we are excited to share this book!

How to:

step 1: download it here
step 2: print it
step 3: bind it (we stapled the books + hole punched them)
step 4: (optional) decorate it with fun ribbon

Family Night @ Earth Fare: live painting

Last night we teamed up with Earth Fare at Brier Creek for their Family Dinner Night. In keeping with the season, we decided on a healthy lifestyle theme that included Molly giving out Twice Inspired activity books, titled "A Happy, Healthy New Year," & some live entertainment provided by Lisa.
The beautiful, fresh produce at Earth Fare inspired us to no end. Isn't it gorgeous?
Lisa arranged some of her produce finds into a still life.
And while the kiddos colored in their coloring books & entered a raffle to win Lisa's finished painting, she painted away. People came over to admire, observe & ask questions. It was so much fun!
So, there it is! Nice, huh? Stay tuned for our next post on the activity books. Watching the children pass them around & the older ones read the text to the younger ones was really really something.
