This week our private session included a group of talented women. Our art project was an acrylic landscape painting on canvas. Our craft projects were bookmarks & gift tags made from art paper, ribbon & recycled vintage art books.
The painting was commissioned by our session's host. Its soft, natural scenery included distant mountains, a winding stream, pond, trees, lily pads & a dragonfly. It was a quintessential lesson in perspective, with a clear horizon line & background, mid-ground & foreground color variations.
The crafts were made using 3 main components: art/craft paper from Jerry's, ribbon & pages snipped from art books. Scissors & a hole punch were also used. This craft was inspired by art books from the 1960s purchased at a thrift store for $.25. Ultimately, the bookmarks & gift tags were inexpensive, practical & fun, & the project is only limited by the crafter's imagination. The session flew by & was so much fun! The group of attendees were so funny, lovely & talented. While each left the session with a completed painting & customized bookmarks & gift tags, we hope what they really left with was the confidence & inspiration that comes along with creating something with their own hands & imagination. Thanks ladies, for such a wonderful night (in such a wonderful space - more on that later).
